The DKW SB-500 was builted between 1934 and 1939, where the NZ-500 was born. There were three types the SB-500, SB-500 A and the SB-500 Luxus, equiped with a double front light very impressive, as the Triumph ones. You can see a lot of differences between the SB and the NZ, the more important are: - No rear suspension on the SB - Rear break shift (normal in the NZ, back pedal in the SB) - No front shock absorver in SB - The seat - The mudguards - The front light - Lateral cases (clutch and dynamo) - The cylinder head - Gas Tank - Weight - 4 Gear transmission in NZ and 3 in SB - Carburetor - Brake and clutch shifts in handlebar - Ignition Key - Claxon - Rear Light - Speed Shift only in hand (optional in foot) Even with those differences they look similar. There were made 19.003 frames of the SB-500 in its three types, and a total of 19.700 engines. (At the end of the page you have the frame and engine numbers, with its made years). Here you can see Gero´s SB , a Girona´s friend. |
